Livable Neighborhoods

Many schools, local governments, and organizations are interested in collecting community resource information, such as: theatres and entertainment establishments, parks and recreation areas, gardens and commons, boat launches and water access, libraries and free internet access points. Simply by pointing and clicking, a map of the best coffee shops, bakeries, dry cleaners, and other services can be built by the people who know the best, the local customers. Web-based interactive asset mapping allows students or community members to sign-up and add their own thoughts and pictures... an online community involvement project!

Livable neighborhoods are created by neighbors helping neighbors. Check out how these public participation projects made their neighborhoods more livable.

Educational opportunities - Teachers, register your students to map locations in your school's neighborhood they find important and to share their thoughts about these sites. Great for building geographic awareness and engaging community involvement programs.
